Hidden Camera

Inside the world of voyeur....

Monday 22 November 2010

Garden Snaps

Being caught/ watched taking pictures of yourself.

Removing the mask

Following on from the previous shoot, I decided to remove the mask. This was due to people only seeing the gas mask and then loosing interested in the rest of the image. These two more vague and could be slightly weirder as you can relate to the subject. Being able to see the facial expressions seems to create more of a voyeuristic setting and less confrontational than the previous.
I think the next step for this would be to add in the camera to the image, this will change the image even more. Being caught or watched taking pictures of yourself taking pictures. Cindy Sherman and i believe Lee Miller have tried this on some occasions.

Enter Gas Mask

A series of images to start a new project. Would the meaning of an image change if it has been constructed. How would the decisive moment apply (if appears) when the image is constructed/ self portraits?

Car Crash in Plymouth

I did some work experience with the Herald, a Plymouth paper. My first job was of a car crash. these are a few of the images. These aren't the ones used by the paper. Images of this nature need to show the surroundings, whats happened and who is at the scene with as little text as possible to accompany them as possible.

    Claustrophobia!

Im really not happy with this shoot, however what came out works when I think about what i was trying to achieve. The harsh light creates a tense atmosphere which makes the viewer uncomfortable like the subject might be feeling. The rope is almost like the road that Dorothy follows in the wizard of Oz, your eyes will follow it to the knot on the hands and ankles, however the knot itself is out of focus, this is because people try to ignore the fact that this kind of thing happens, a feeling of being trapped, claustrophobia or even kidnapping. The light and following the rope causes the attention which is distracted by the lack of focus.
